David Blaine

David Blaine on stage

A new era of Magic

David Blaine was twenty-three when he directed and starred in his first prime-time ABC television special, David Blaine: Street Magic.

The special captivated audiences and was well received around the world due to its unique focus on spectators’ reactions and its authentic approach to magic. While many within the magic community were critical of the show for its technical simplicity, it ultimately paved a new way for magic on television, something The New Yorker recognised at the time when it declared that David Blaine “saved magic.”

The success of Street Magic transformed David Blaine into a global phenomenon and redefined public perceptions of modern magic. His minimalist style, intimate performances, and endurance feats introduced a new generation to the art form and influenced countless performers who followed.

The New York Times later wrote that David had “taken a craft that’s been around for hundreds of years and done something unique and fresh with it.” Howard Stern described him as “the greatest magician who ever lived,” while Penn Jillette called Street Magic “the best TV magic special ever done.”

David has since performed for people from all walks of life, from the streets of Compton to The White House, and for cultural icons such as Stephen Hawking, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Sergey Brin, Larry Page, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Sam Altman, Jeff Bezos, Dave Chappelle, Margot Robbie, LeBron James, Emma Stone, Kanye West, Jennifer Lawrence, Will Smith, Drake, David Beckham, Tom Brady, John Travolta, Patrick Stewart, among many others.

Live on Stage

In 2014 David embarked on his first-ever Live tour. He waited 10 years for this tour. It was his dream to put everything he worked for into one show. In 2017 David embarked on his first-ever North American tour. The 40-city tour launched on May 30th in San Diego, CA and included shows throughout North America. It was an unforgettable interactive experience that both shocked and amused. An experiment in and of itself, the tour evolved as it moved across the country as David continued to push the limits and attempted new feats for the first time live in front of his audiences.

Live Stunts

“Buried Alive,” Blaine’s first live stunt, was a feat even Houdini was unable to do in his lifetime. Entombed in an underground plastic box beneath a three ton water tank for seven days with no food and little water, Blaine would draw strength from the 75,000 visitors who came to the event beside the Hudson River, topping foot traffic at both the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty combined. Upon emerging Blaine remarked, “I saw a vision of every race, religion, and age group banding together.”
